Based on the individual customer's requirements, I conduct some tests as Garment Test, Prints Test, Fabric Test, Bonding Test. All of these tests are conducted on KNIT category.
- Before running in production, we conduct the fabric test to make sure no problem prior or to issuing it to production. Fabric tests is including Wash & Color Migration Test.
For fabric wash test, based on the AATCC Test Method 135/179 or ISO 3759/16322-2, color mirgration test will be depended on each buyer. For instant, Under Armour applies the AATCC Test Method 163-Colorfastness: Dye Transfer in Storage; Fabric-to-Fabric, use option 1 with a glass of water inside. About the PUMA buyer, they use their own manuals as PCF12-PUMA Apparel Version 4.1-SS17 for color migration test.
- For Prints Tests: The purpose is to check any peel off, delamination, distortion, noticeble changes after washing based on each buyers. Normally Prints sample will be submitted within 5 to 6 pieces. 1 for control sample, 1 for color migration and 3 to 4 pieces for washing.
For example, Under Armour requires to check appearance after 25 launderings and/or 3 dry clean, the requirement is no adverse affects & visually acceptable, visual assessment at 5, 10, and 25 washes.
Puma requires 10 washing cycles to check appearance after washing without any distortions, significant changes, visual assessment at 1, 5 and 10 washes for Direct Print or Heat Transfer print. Appearance checking at 1, 3 and 5 washes for Panel Pad Prints.
Lululemon requires 15 washing cycles, visual assessment at 1, 5 and 10 and 15 washes.
-For Garment Tests: Individual buyers have their own Points of Measurement Manual. For the in-house Lab testings, these fundamental points of measurement are performed as Chest Width, Bottom Hem, Sleeve Length from CBN to Sleeve Opening , Sleeve Opening & Body length from HPS for TOP of Garment, Waistband, Hip Width, Front Rise, Back Rise, Thigh Width, Side Seam, Leg Opening for BOTTOM of Garment.
- Conduct the water hardness testing by using the test kit to choose the weight of detergent used. For PUMA, they normally use ECE 98 as the standard detergent for washing, combining with Sodium Perborate, TAED with a specific weights regulated in Table 2.1.2 PUMA F-01 Apparel Requirement Version 4.1 Nov.2015, Page 62.
- Conduct the Fabric Weight to make sure fabric weight value within buyer's' tolerance.
- Conduct Water hardness test by using HI 3812 Test Kit.
- 23rd Sept 2015 attended the Under Armour Seminar hosted by BV Consumer Product Service to update the latest requirements.
- 14th June 2018 attended the Puma Training hosted by SGS Vietnam to train the updated manual Ver.4.3.
